Concentrated Foreclosure Risk and Subprime Loan Performance in Selected US Cities
To support development of appropriate LISC responses to the deepening crisis of residential mortgage default and property foreclosure in our neighborhoods, we prepared maps showing the location of neighborhoods most at risk of concentrated foreclosures, defined as those areas in the top quintiles nationally on percentage of residential mortgage loans that were high cost, and the numbers of loans per dwelling unit. We also prepared additional maps for selected cities that show the incidence of loan payment problems across neighborhoods, including neighborhoods where the largest number of loans with interest rates scheduled to reset over the next six months (April to October, 2008). Data are available at the zipcode level, only. >> Continue to Foreclosure Maps By CityForeclosure Response Project
The Foreclosure Response project is a new collaboration of the Center for Housing Policy, KnowledgePlex, LISC, and the Urban Institute. This project - expected to launch formally within a few months - will help practitioners, policymakers, and researchers to access data, analysis and information on foreclosure prevention and neighborhood stabilization.
